Saturday the state of Tennessee went on a Tornado watch. After only a few hours of being on watch, disaster happened. The whole state of Tennessee was in danger 13 different tornadoes touched down after officials confirmed Sunday afternoon after the disaster. One of the estimated 13 tornados traveled nearly 43 miles from the Clarksville area in Montgomery County to Logan County

Anyone in the Middle Tennessee area was in danger, one can only imagine the feelings these people had while hiding from a natural disaster waiting to happen. Officials said 6 people died Saturday night in Clarksville as well as a  total of 83 people had to be transported to the hospital- 62 of those from Clarksville and 21 from the Nashville area. Sadly of those 83 nine of them were in critical condition and had to be transported to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Thankfully the community and even some big time celebrities have been there to help support the state of Tennessee. After the tornados passed through on Saturday Taylor Swift made a very generous donation of $1 million to the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The organization helps fund nonprofits that give vital services in all phases of any disaster. If you would like to donate you can go to www.cfmt.org. Although she’s seen traveling the world and performing sellout shows she does call home Nashville where she still works and lives.

Not to mention what the community itself is doing to get back up on their feet so quickly. The Red Cross, churches, and others have opened emergency shelters for people throughout the community. Another group playing a big role are all the first responders working tirelessly to try and find people and clean up what's left of  Clarksville and Nashville. All the doctors working on patients who have been hurt, or the firefighters trying to save anyone covered in debris and put out the fire that have started from electricity catching houses and trees on fire.

A volunteer cleanup group has started as well in Clarksville it begins Monday December 11, at 8 a.m, you can meet at the Mosaic Church. Mayor Freddie O’Connell said “Nashville is a place where when we face adversity, the community always steps up” and it has already shown that the community has had each other's back.
