(10) Listening Post

A listening post is news that informs you about a certain topic whether or not you intended to hear it. News can be anything whether it's sports, crime, or just the weather for the week. You can receive news through radio, TV, or just word of mouth from someone else.

I'm From Austin, Texas so when I’m here at SAU I receive news from my parents about things that are happening back home. For example, two weeks ago my parents were telling me about the ACL music festival. The Festival is a two weekend festival Friday through Sunday. Around 50 different artists come and perform the whole day for about an hour each. All the artists are from different genres. So each day you can get a different vibe. Another way I receive news is from the baseball team. Since everyone here is from different cities and states I get to hear about things going on with their own hometowns.

Listening posts are important to keep people updated with what's going on in the world around them. Without these connections I would have missed a lot of news going on around the world. I think Listening to others is one of the best ways to find out new things that you never intentionally meant to know or hear about.
