(11) Civics

Civics is the study or science of the privileges and obligations of citizens. Things like all three branches, how bills become laws and what the electoral college is. The reason for learning these things is to inform students to contribute to public processes. Such as voting, volunteering, jury service, and finding other ways to help improve the community.

The three branches of government are separated to make sure no branch has more power than the others. It helps make sure citizens rights are protected giving each branch its own priority and responsibilities. The balance of power helps give each branch the ability to work with each other without any conflict.

The first branch is the legislative which makes laws, the branch is composed of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Second is the Executive Branch which is made up of the President, Vice-President, the Cabinet, and any federal agency. Lastly is the Judicial Branch, they evaluate each law. The Judicial is made up of the Supreme Court, each branch has different types of powers balancing out the government by allowing each branch to work with each other and have an equal say on things.

All these branches decide on laws based on things that we the people decide on. Without civics the government wouldn’t be able to work smoothly. In this situation the government depends on civilization and we depend on the government to make the country properly function.
